Now in its 10th year, the Dingle International Film Festival has become a firm fixture on the international festival circuit. Held annually in mid-March in the colourful and lively town of Dingle along the Wild Atlantic Way. This year’s event coincides with St Patricks Day so promises to be a great excuse to visit the area! Dingle itself is home to a number of film makers as well as one of Ireland’s only independent cinemas and of course is known as a film location too, most notably for Ryan’s Daughter and Far and Away.
The festival is home to the Gregory Peck Award: For Excellence in the Art of Film and in 2015 held the country’s first ever Animation Awards ceremony. It offers feature screenings from Ireland and around the world covering a range of genres and also promotes the Irish language in this Gaeltacht area.
The 2016 event takes place from 17th-20th March with the programme to be announced shortly. For more information visit http://www.dinglefilmfestival.com/
