Easter is almost upon us and if you are stuck for inspiration on how to spend the long weekend, we’ve put together some great deals on late breaks!
To give you an idea of how you could enjoy Easter in one of our destinations we have talked to our local managers about their Easter traditions and plans…
Marjorie, Nice Area Manager
Easter in Nice is very much about children…and chocolate! Marjorie tells us that all the shops are temptingly full of delicious chocolates at the moment.
There are many beautiful Baroque churches around Nice and many people still attend mass on Easter Sunday followed by a relaxing meal with friends and family. In recent years Easter egg hunts have become really popular, with events being organised at various locations such as the Château at the Parc Phoenix. The weather is generally good around Easter time and Marjorie tells us that last year she took her young daughter to hunt for eggs in the park and then enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine. This year she will be spending the day with family but you can be sure that chocolate will feature too!
If Easter in the sun with lashings of chocolate sounds like your idea of heaven, we’ve taken 15% off all stays in Nice from 25th March to 7th April!
Clodagh, Director YNA Dingle Cottages
Clodagh and her family are going to be staying in one of our beautiful cottages for the Easter break. The weather forecast is looking pretty good so they plan to spend as much time as possible outside, messing around with boats and jumping of Ventry pier! Pier jumping is a pretty popular local activity it seems and Clodagh says that Easter signals the time for people to start jumping in the sea again. They have an Easter egg hunt planned for the kids on Beal Ban beach, where the rocks make great hiding places and then on Easter Sunday a big barbecue with lots of friends!
If an outdoor Easter in Dingle sounds like your kind of break, we’ve take £150 off a week’s stay between 18th March and 7th April or £75 off a stay of 2 nights or more!
Andriana, Director YNA Cyprus Villas
Easter in Cyprus is later this year, falling on 29th April – 2nd May so Cypriots are currently in the middle Lent. Easter is a huge event in Cyprus, much more so than Christmas so it’s a time for friends and families to gather together and after 40 days of fasting you can imagine that feasting plays a huge role in procedings! Holy Week is a very serious and sombre period with church services every night. People spend this time preparing for the big day as well, cooking up a storm, painting eggs and baking traditional “flaounes”. Almost everyone will go to the midnight service on Holy Saturday which is followed by huge bonfires and fireworks and people go home to eat a special soup such as avgo lemoni and crack painted eggs!
Andriana says that late April and early May is one of the best times of year in Cyprus where all the blossom is out and everything is wonderfully green before the fierce heat of summer. Not surprisingly with such a great climate, Cypriots love outdoor living and most families will set up great long tables in their courtyards and gardens where they will feast on souvla and roasted meat! Like many Cypriots, Andriana will head to her village over Easter (her family come from picturesque Lefkara) for a relaxed family get together.
If you’d like to experience Easter, Cyprus-style, we’ve brought our prices right down and are offering additional discounts for stays of 7 nights or more
