A luxury stay in Castlegregory – Kerry’s most beautiful rural village… A favourite among tourists and quite possibly the most popular tourist destination in Kerry. This small quaint village named Castlegregory is home to 250 people but during the summer months the village comes alive with hundreds heading for a quiet rural break in this little idyllic haven. Castlegregory sits on the northern side of the Dingle Peninsula, halfway between the towns of Tralee and Dingle and boasts the most exquisite views of Brandon Bay, Mount Brandon and the Atlantic Ocean. No wonder why it’s known as the ‘Gold Coast’ of the Peninsula!
The name Castleregory comes from Gregory Hoara – who was the local chieftain in the village in the 1600s.The castle was destroyed during the Cromwellian wars in 1649, and now all that stands is a few stone fragments which can be seen near the local SPAR shop in the centre of the village.

Where to eat and drink
Gregorys Garden – Gregory’s Garden, has become a must visit in the area offering a Mediterranean style menu with plenty of Irish twists. The restaurant cultivates their own vegetables in the restaurant’s adjacent garden, and sources meat and fish locally to ensure an unmissable culinary experience. If you’re a massive pizza lover like me then I would definitely recommend trying out their forge wood fired pizza… all you have to do is look them up on social media and their pictures will have you craving a pizza like never before. Spillanes bar – A favourite with the locals and a family run business you should check out and support. Here you’ll have stunning views, a great variety of beverages to choose from, warm hospitality and amazing food in a relaxed friendly environment. Check out their Facebook here.
Moes Café – A very fine place to try for a bite to eat after a morning of being on the beach. Moe’s is a family run Seaside Café. Here, they serve up the most delicious homemade bread, cakes, apple pies and of course freshly made sandwiches, soup and salads. The staff are so friendly and kind and will go out of their way to make your visit here special. They also have outdoor seating too so if you’re here on a good sunny day then be sure to try it out!
Things to do –
Glentenassig forest – Glentenassig translates to Valley of the Waterfalls and is a gem nestled in the sheltered valley of the Slieve Mish mountains, close to Castlegregory. The forest sits on 450 hectares of land and is made up of forest streams, lakes, waterfalls and dramatic cliff views. The park is free to visit and has a selection of walks and picnic areas with good parking. A trip here makes for the perfect family day out.
Beaches – Did we mention this area is also home to one of Ireland’s longest beaches, extending for 12 miles from the Maharees through to Castlegregory and on to Cloghane.
