Now we know everyone loves a trip to the Dingle Peninsula (including myself), its peaceful tranquillity makes for the perfect place to get away from it all, but why not try somewhere a little different. Same county but different peninsula! The Iveragh Peninsula is also part of the Kingdom of Kerry and is the largest of all southwest peninsulas. It’s home to Irelands highest mountain range – Carrauntoohill (standing at a soaring 1039m high) and some of the most picturesque towns and Villages in all of Ireland. If you’re new to this area, then we’ve rounded up some of the best award-winning places that you can try whilst staying in one of our elegant holiday homes in Iveragh.

A fabulous bakery recently voted as one of Conde Nast cheapest and nicest restaurants in the world

Emilies is in the heart of Glenbeigh, a small village Often referred to as ‘The Jewel of the Ring of Kerry.’ I can’t even begin to describe how amazing their delicious sourdough pizza base is, as well as their unique spin on Irish and Italian toppings – ‘Scamorza’ and ‘nduja’ as well as wild mushrooms and black pudding make the list on their amazing menu. We really recommend a visit to this Café; it would be a shame not too!

Take a walk on one of the best blue flag beaches

Rossbeigh beach is located 1.6km away from the beautiful village of Glenbeigh. This beach is a fabulous 4km strand jutting out into Dingle bay. Why not go for a swim or grab your body board to ride those Iveragh waves. This beach is also great for a long stroll, if you’re walking the full length and back it’s approximately two hours long. Or if you fancy a trot then head on down to Burke’s Horse Riding centre where they can cater for everything from a short ride for kids to a stunning gallop for the experienced.

SUP on the only ‘gold tier’ dark sky reserve in the Northern Hemisphere

Just imagine floating on a lake on a clear, moonless night, barely a breath of wind and the warmth of a glowing fire nearby with some toasted marshmallows waiting for you on your return. Book your SUP here on the tranquil Caragh Lake.

Some great news for Iveragh recently

The An Bord Pleanala has finally approved for the South Kerry Greenway which will be an incredible amenity for both local cyclists and pedestrians as well as those who will come to holiday on this breathtakingly beautiful Peninsula. The 32km route will connect Glenbeigh to Renard in Cahersiveen. Here, you can also catch the Valentia Island Ferry. This new route will eventually bring more tourists to the area.
