Liberty is situated in an elegant neighbourhood of Nice, close to the chic designer boutiques of rue Paradis and the al fresco restaurants of the pedestrian zone. Everything is on your doorstep. It is just a few minutes’ walk to the beach or the Old Town through the central square Place Masséna and the newly renovated public garden Albert 1er. Turn inland and you can stroll through the Promenade du Paillon, which was created to bring a swathe of green to the centre of the city. It offers shady trees, a “water mirror” of fountains and cooling mist sprays, a photographic history of the area and children’s play areas for all ages. With Masséna tram stop just a few steps away, Liberty allows you to explore all parts of the city effortlessly.
The tram system in Nice has recently developed and there are now 3 tram lines facilitating travel across the city and meeting up with the many buses. Line 3 (approx. 4:23am to 0:45am) connects the airport to the Alliance Riviera stadium, National Museum of Sport and St Isidore shopping centre. Line 2 (approx. 4:45 am to 1:10 am) connects the airport to many stops along the promenade and then onto the centre of Nice, the Old Town and the port. Line 1 (approx. 4:25 am to 1:25 am) meets line 2 on the main shopping avenue of Jean Médecin and then goes north to Nice Ville train station (Gare Thiers) and on through the market neighbourhood of Liberation, or in the opposite direction passing the Old Town, Place Garibaldi for the Bonaparte neighbourhood and onwards to the exhibition centre and the main hospital, Pasteur. Buy your tickets from machines on platforms before boarding: a one-way ticket costs €1.50 (bus/tram changes included up to 74 mins) or you can buy ten tickets for €10 and other passes.
