Remarkable house tucked into a lush Irish garden and hillside
Posted on: 23/11/2016
The Sanctuary is a remarkable house tucked into a lush Irish garden and hillside. The amazing light and air in the house make it incredibly welcoming and comfortable. The underfloor heating make it almost always the perfect temperature. The beds were lovely. The kitchen was very well equipped and designed so cooking was a pleasure. Overall, I’d recommend this location for anyone looking for peace and quiet and time away. We may well be back for another stay. The Dingle Peninsula surroundings are glorious.

The Sanctuary is just what the name claims

“The Sanctuary is just what the name claims. It’s an idyllic retreat in a wonderful corner of Ireland. Clodagh is an added plus. We booked on short notice and she sorted us right out. I highly recommend a stay at The Sanctuary.”

We only wish we could have stayed longer

“The Sanctuary is truly a sanctuary. It is set in a beautiful, secluded, very private spot with many sites, restaurants, trails and stores easily accessible. The small towns of Cloghane and Brandon are nearby, and Dingle and the outer peninsula are not far. They can be reached either through the Conor Pass, where there is a spectacular view, or by going around through Anascaul, which is only a little longer. The Sanctuary is easy to get to, and the setting provides access to activities as well as a private place to stay. There were six of us and the accommodations were extremely comfortable, inside and out. We also appreciated the eco friendly systems in place: composting, use of geothermal energy! Thank you for the peaceful atmosphere, the many comfortable spaces and the helpful tips. We only wish we could have stayed longer!”

Absolutely loved our stay at The Sanctuary

“We absolutely loved our stay at The Sanctuary. It lived up to its name. Located in an extremely private and peaceful spot nestled into the mountains with wonderful gardens and the most Beautiful walks all around it. We were surrounded by by beautiful beaches nearby and we had some lovely dining experiences locally. Our host provided a welcome basket with local produce and lots of useful information on what was available in the area. The owner even shared some home grown tomatoes with us and lots of wood for the stoves was available. The house is beautifully restored and lovingly designed. The whole experience was rejuvenating. We arrived exhausted and have left refreshed and ready to head back to the demands of our lives. I had my dogs with me who loved the freedom to roam around the gardens and lanes with lots of safe fun exploring new territories. I would highly recommend this house if you want a quiet retreat and time in nature.”

guaranteed good standard

We have been visiting Castlegregory for many, many years and in recent years have started using YNA to book our accommodation. I feel although, booking through YNA is more expensive, there is a guaranteed good standard. We are a family of 6, and we stayed in the Sanctuary for 2 weeks in August 2018. The house is beautifully renovated and is in a gorgeous, peaceful setting.  The living area is very comfortable and relaxing and we all enjoyed chilling out in the lounge and sun room.  We found it to be a great house for our children aged 11-> 6 years old. They enjoyed exploring and playing in the garden and the area surrounding the house. The garden is also beautiful, with a variety of shrubs and trees and is cultivated with lots birds coming and going. The only suggestion I would have here is that some outdoor furniture allowing people to sit out/ dine out would be fabulous addition.  You can set of for a great walk from the farmhouse and fermoyle beach is short drive away. We loved out stay here and found the Sanctuary to be a comfortable, peaceful and convenient place to stay.

Thanks!
