Listed in 2014 as one of the top 50 places to see ‘off the beaten track’ is this small rural fishing village, home to 800 people. It’s located 8km west of Killorglin and 6km from Glenbeigh. Cromane is between two of the most scenic peninsulas – Dingle to the North and Iveragh westwards. Our Luxury holiday houses in Cromane will give you views of the Brandon Mountain Range, Sliabh Mish Mountains and the McGillycuddy Reeks.
The village gets its name from the Irish word ‘An Cromán’ meaning hip bone as the spit is shaped like a hip when looking at it on a map or from the top of a high mountain. Cromane has its own pebble beach encased by mountains laced with lakes. The annual Cromane Seafest in September is held on this very beach.
Salmon and trout have been fished for generations in Cromane and if you get the chance, visit ‘Jacks coastguard’ restaurant in Cromane, where you will receive the seafood fresh from the sea!
