While we know the summer season is almost over, September has never been a better time to get out and explore and while it’s expected to still be busier than ever with people enjoying staycations, there is still plenty of activities you can do while maintaining social distancing.  You really won’t get a better place to stay as our Luxury Holiday Lets on Iveragh Peninsula make a great base to relax after a day of fun activities.

The Iveragh peninsula is the largest of all southwest peninsulas and is the proud owner to some of the most beautiful towns and villages in Ireland, it is known to many as the ‘crown jewel of Southwest Ireland’ and is situated south of the Dingle peninsula and north of the Beara peninsula. You may know Iveragh as being the home to Ireland’s highest peak mountain – Carrauntoohil, measuring at a soaring 1,039 metre high.

Ring of Kerry drive

The most scenic drive in all of Ireland and 179km of picture postcard beauty. We recommend bringing a camera along for this one… The Ring of Kerry will certainly work its magic on you as you travel and drive past some of the most scenic rugged coastal lines, white sandy beaches and dramatic mountain passes. While we know its approximately a 3 and a half hour round trip, we suggest going as slow as possible, stopping off in some of the charming villages and buzzing towns. For the best route, see our Ring of Kerry travel guide here. Don’t forget to stop off in some of the little businesses to help support the local community!

Explore Killarney

Iveragh encompasses the beautiful town of Killarney – Ireland’s adventure capital. The town is famous for its history, heritage, activities and hospitality and has won many national and international awards because of this. There’re endless amounts of places to visit and see here, so we’ve rounded up some of our favourites that you might want to try…

Take a stroll through Ireland’s oldest national park formed in 1932 – Killarney National Park. Stop off and have a little look around the 19th Century Muckross house, once owned by Senator Arthur Vincent, his family entrusted Muckross House & Estate into the care of the Irish State. The house and its gardens have been entertaining people from all over the world, so they can catch a glimpse of original pieces of furniture, artwork, trophies and many other furnishings from that period. The 15th century Ross Castle is also one to not miss. Legend has it that the man who built Ross castle lies in a deep slumber under the waters of Lough Leane and on the 1st day of every May he rises on his magnificent horse and circles the lake.
