Take a drive on the N71 road from Kenmare to Killarney and stop to see views of the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks. This area and its shop are a spot visited by thousands of tourists each year. The history behind its name comes from a lady called Moll Kissane who ran a small pub on a rocky breach during the construction of the original road from Kenmare to Killarney in 1820, Moll sold her home brewed poitin whisky to the men who worked on the road. Here we recommend Avoca Cafe and shop, good food and a great view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
