There’s a distinctly edge-of-the-world feel to the Skelligs. The majestic rocky peaks jut upwards out of the Atlantic ocean. To Irish people, their 618 stone steps ascending 200m are considered the country’s most astounding UNESCO World Heritage Site. To film fans they’re another planet altogether, refuge of legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker in the most recent box office-smashing Star Wars instalments. To historians, they’re home to an incredibly well-preserved ancient monastic outpost  Skellig Michael in particular.

There are two types of tours: the landing tour and the eco tour. The eco tour has multiple departures throughout the day from the Portmagee Marina, this boat tour circles the Skellig Islands so you can get up close to see the wildlife and the historical sights. The landing tour departs from Portmagee marina in the morning at approximately 8:30am and arrives back at the marina in the afternoon around 2pm.
