Following in the footsteps of legendary local adventurer

The Tom Crean festival celebrates the life and adventures of legendary Antarctic explorer Tom Crean, who came from the village of Annascaul. The Tom Crean Endurance Walk takes place as part of the festival, a truly fitting event to honour Tom Crean. The walk, designed with the experienced walker in mind, covers over 30km route with an elevation of 1900 metres, taking in  Mount Brandon, An Gearan Mor, Ballysitteragh, An Cnapan Mor, Cnoc Mhaoilionoin and finishing with a steep descent to Com Dubh and on to the South Pole Inn in Annascaul village.
